STROGA - yoga for people impacted by a stroke

Have you been told that it is important to move your body?

Is it hard to imagine moving your body in ways you "used to"?

Do you have a desire to improve your body's mobility?

Are you searching for new ways to to improve your body and mind connection?

Do you believe in the power of neuroplasticity and being able to change your brain?

Would you like to discover ways to feel calm?

If you answered "YES!" to any of these questions, STROGA can help you.

Some people think of yoga as a spiritual form of improving themselves.  Some people think of yoga as sitting on the floor with their legs crossed and saying "Ohm".  And some people think yoga is about touching your toes or standing on your head.

Yoga can include some of those things IF you want it to. Yoga can be sitting in a chair and allowing your mind and body to rest.  Yoga can be tiny movements of the body allowing for more space to breathe and soften.  Yoga has many health benefits that include lowering blood pressure and stress, improving joints and bones, and so much more.

STROGA was created so that people impacted by stroke or other neurological disorders can find benefits of improving the way the brain and body function.  It does not require standing, prior yoga experience, or any particular goals.

Onset of brain change can impact the way the body moves and the way the brain thinks.  STROGA offers people the opportunity to create change in those natural tendencies.

STROGA is highly adaptable

To recognize the wide range of abilities people have when it comes to moving their body and trying new things, there are no expectations when it comes to doing STROGA.

STROGA is for every body (yes, intentional space between those words).

Some of the yoga principles include focus, breath work, and interacting with those around us. One does not need to be flexible or standing upright to practice this.

STROGA offers each person options to use their body to achieve potential- to go beyond what comes naturally and witness that the body can respond to even just thinking about something simple.

Take a moment to close your eyes. Begin to picture colorful leaves during the autumn season.  As soon as another word or thought enters your mind, which it will, come back to the orange, red, and yellow colors of the leaves.  --- Ah, your just did some yoga.  You focused on something even for a few seconds.
